Thoughts on this tombak, kudi and unusual majapahit blade?

These are all nice, representative pieces.
I like the little cundrik best of the lot. These are pretty scarce, it is totally talismanic and a nice addition to any collection of tosan aji. It could, I guess, legitimately be named as a "cundrik mojopahit", but that must not be understood to infer that it is originated in the Mojopahit era. It is most likely 19th century. The tombak is iras metuk. This is usually taken as indicative of lower quality of manufacture, but this standard can in my opinion only be legitimately applied to tombak from Central Jawa. I have seen some very nice tombak from other areas that were metuk iras, and that lacked nothing in quality. Other than that, it appears to have a core, it appears to have some age, and it has well managed pamor. Nice. "metuk iras" means that the metuk has been forged as one piece with the blade, the metuk is the little ring-like fitting between blade & tang. The kudi, again, purely talismanic, probably not all that old, but most certainly not current era. A good representative piece and a good addition to a collection. All in all, a nice little group of items that are not really all that easy to acquire. |

Why this thread was moved ....
Hello Ganapati:
Sajen is correct. You posted this thread originally in the Keris Forum, which is just for keris. Even though your items share cultural links to keris, they are not keris--hence the moderators of the Keris Forum moved your post here. This is explained on the information page for the Keris Forum.
