Syrian (?) Shamshir Hilt for Restoration
attached is a syrian (? - you know, non-indian) hilt which is in better condition than it looks. for what it is there, it is complete - two grip blocks, inner and outer silver banding, two silver side plates and all 6 silver buttons. what is missing (obviously) is the quillion block and kula pommel.
the grip blocks have studs and stars 'inlaid' in, with some losses. it is crude in general, but they all were really. for someone with a blade, quillion block and pommel, this is priceless! they say nothing in this life is free but i'd like to think not. i would like this to go to a collector (no dealers please) who can justify owning it for a restoration project - so no cost!! they pay actual postage only, and be patient if i take a week or so to get to the post office. anyone interested please let me know. it will go to whoever i feel needs it most (or i'll keep it if no one is interested). |

I was the recipient of Brian's generosity.
I cannot say how much I am grateful to him! I will do my best with the parts and will share the results. Brian, you are THE MAN! |
