Please help to ID a dagger
Hello,
Would you please help to ID this item. It appears to be some sort of decorative or dancing dagger but I could not find anything similar on the web. |

So far I know is it an Ashante state sword from Ghana. I guess very recent, normally are the hilt elements covered with silver or gold foil.
See here: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...hlight=ashanti & http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...hlight=ashanti Regards, Detlef |

Thanks for your help. I was thinking of South Pacific origin but Ashanti swords seem to be the correct fit.

Sajen is right, yours is a ceremonial sword typical of the Ashanti people (or Asante) and is called by the name of "akrafena" or "afena".
