Smile INDIA TIGER SPEAR WITH GUN

HERE IS SOMETHING UNUSUAL FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT. IT IS A COMBINATION SPEAR AND GUN SAID TO HAVE BEEN MADE IN INDIA FOR TIGER HUNTS. IT APPEARS WHEN THE TIGER IS SPEARED IT PUSHES BACK AND FIRES THE GUN. WITH OUT THE SPEAR SHAFT IT IS 54.7 CM. LONG AND THE GUN IS 16MM. I ASSUME THAT IS THE CALIBER.

Cool

So that would be about .60 cal. ?
Ouch !
A misfire could be fatal; that spear looks a bit short .

I agree with Rick. I certainly would not like to be this close to a Tiger, even if the pole that this (I assume ) would be attached to was long.

Talking

THE TIGER STRIKING THE SPEAR AND THE RECOIL OF THE GUN WOULD INDEED BE LIKELY TO SEND THE USER FLYING. A LONG SHAFT WOULD BE NICE BUT GIVEN THE SIZE AND WEIGHT OF THE GUN/SPEAR IT WAS PROBABLY NOT VERY LONG SO IT WOULD BE FAST ENOUGH TO DEAL WITH A CHARGEING OR LEAPING TIGER. ONE OF THE OLD MOST DANGEROUS JOBS NO DOUBT.

Wink

Which reminds me of the old saw about the 'ten foot pole' .
Still, I guess it beats the Kukri method of tiger killing .

I agree, not much of a spear blade for Tigers. I don't care how long the pole is! Perhaps, it was mounted on the butt-end, of an Elephant goad? A form of Howdah pistol, with a point. Or, last ditch Tiger medicine. Whatever it is, it's really cool.
