sharing with you an antique, Ilongot bolo/knife. Claimed to be early to mid 19th century. Enjoy, Yves |

Very nice! Thank you for posting this!
If proved to be truly mid 19c, then this will be a variant that is early and rarely (if ever) seen. Maraming salamat! |

ILONGOT BOLO 1
Hello,
This old warrior came from a reputable gallery shop in Manila. It was sold to another 'trader/collector' who knows his tribal stuff. Apparently, this lovely piece is early to mid 19th century. When I saw the piece, my heart didn't skip a beat....it froze in awe. This is one of those wishful 'holy grails' we have been searching for...for the longest time. Kind regards Yves |

Hello,
Kleiman writes in "On Expedition &Tribal Art" that these bolos are woman swords and that they are called "takip ny bekur". Very nice bolo with an unusual scabbard tip! Here you can see my one: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...hlight=ilongot Regards, Detlef |
