Remove scratches on lacquered pole
Hi
I have a Japanese Yari with pole seems to be of lacquer wood. There are some scratches and if anyone can advises how to get rid of these scratches is much appreciated. Thanks. |

I am somewhat familiar with the lacquer that the Japanese used on weapons, called Urishi (hope the spelling is correct). Made from sumac, it can irritate your skin if you sand it. Being a lacquer it could be buffed out, but I am not an expert on how. My suggestion is to use a very fine buffing compound, soft cloth, and gently work a small area to see if you are making an effect. Slow and steady is key.

Urushi Lacquer buy it on amazon? I have no idea of the colour range. Might do to touch up small scratches.
