Keris Mismatch

Thank you for all your comments on my previous posting.
I think I should change the title into Keris Mismatch rather then restoration.
Please give your best opinions/comments about what should i do with the keris.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Sid, I think that perhaps the reason you did not get responses is because you have posted a number of pics in one thread, but without identifying numbers.

Since nobody apparently wants to ID these pics for you, I'll make a couple of comments and maybe get the ball rolling.

From the top:

#1 -- general clean-up

#2-- general clean-up

#3 -- this is a hodge-podge of bits & pieces:- blade, hilt, mendak need a Jawa scabbard; existing scabbard probably should be thrown into the spares box

#4 -- as for #3

All four keris are run of the mill older pieces, and cleaned up and the dress abnormalities corrected could sit quite comfortably in a collection, but at the moment they do need a bit of attention.

I got your point....you are right i should be more specific.
Honestly i don't want make everyone bored with my basic question.
That the reason why i put all the pics in one thread.

Hello Sid,

agree with Alan that you will have get more respond when you have shown them piece by piece in a own thread. Agree also what he have written about what is to do with them. Care the blades, many is written about this in old threads.
Polish the wood with car polish from piece 1 & 2. Keris 2 could need maybe a better pendok but difficult to say without better pictures, maybe polish the existent pendok first, it will look much better after this. The sheaths from 3 & 4 are not proper for the blades like Alan said but it need some knowledge and good luck to find matching ones and also some craftsmanchip to fit them for the blades, look for example here: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...ighlight=keris
BTW, the hilt from #4 seems to be very nice, maybe show some close ups.

Hi there,

for keris 3 and 4 im not sure if they really should not be in this sarung.

I have seen more Javanese keris in waranka like this and other shapes, one sort of similar to the known shape of palembang, with some small differences.

I have the personal thought that in old Java there were more shapes of waranka than nowdays, these could be part of them. But this is speculating.

Do they fit good?
