Zeughaus Schwarzburg - Schwarzburg Armoury
After more than 10 years of restoration and reconstruction the Zeughaus Schwarzburg was opened on 12th and 13th May 2018. The collection presents over 5.000 orignal, elaborately restored objects from the 15th to 19th century like military and hunting fireamrs, cannons, body armour and so on. It was collected by the counts of Schwarzburg in 500 years and is one of the largest collections survived in Germany.
I was lucky to had a short look into the collection. The collection AND its presentation in the state of the early 20th century is great and absolutely amazing. Zeughaus Schwarzburg is part of Schloss Schwarzburg (Schwarzburg Castle) located in the municipality Schwarzburg, in the valley of the Schwarza (German: Schwarzatal) in the district Saalfeld-Rudolstadt in Thuringia, Germany. It is approx 20 km far from Suhl, a famous historic center of German arms production, approx 30 km from Erfurt and only 50 km from the famous armoury of Veste Coburg. http://www.schloss-schwarzburg.com/en/ http://www.schloss-schwarzburg.de/startseite/ https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schwarzburg Last edited by Andi; 22nd May 2018 at 08:10 PM. |

Thanks a lot for this good Information. I've been there last year in the arsenal rooms of the Heidecksburg and was heavily impressed what they have.
