A new sickle knife
Last week was good to me : I found great stuff
Here's a sickle knife. I had some trouble identifying this sword, but finally I found the answer in 'Tribal Arms Monograph, Part 1 (1996) by Jan Elsen. According to Jan Elsen this piece comes from the Mongo people, including tribes like : Lia, Konda, Kundu, Kote, Ntomba, Ngandu and Saka. The blade has some engravings on one side. The other side is left plain, besides the big grooves in the middle of the blade (can be seen on both sides). The handle is made of wood, partially covered with copper binding. This binding continues covering the base of the blade. Total length : 50 cm |
