Small Silver Fitted Dagger From The Philippines
Hi,
Here is a small dagger in Spanish Colonial style with nickel silver fittings. Leather scabbard with nice tooling. The leather cord that holds the dagger on when it is worn is wrapped around the scabbard. The blade is double beveled on one side only flat on the other. Grip is horn with two twisted silver wires in one wide groove (for some reason they look crossed in the pictures but are actually side by side) and a single strand wire in another groove. Comments are welcome. Blade length 6-5/8" Width 3/4" Thickness 3/16" Hilt length 3-7/8" Robert Last edited by Robert Coleman; 17th October 2007 at 10:12 PM. |

Very nice - looks to be a Katipunan officer's dagger. Rare to have the scabbard. IT may have had a bottom mount on it. Congratulations!

Hi Jose,
Thanks for the input. What shape do you think the lower mount would have been? Wish I could afford the one that you have listed, interested in a trade of some kind? Thanks again. Robert |

I have been thinking about this Robert. I think perhaps a smaller plain nickel-silver tip with a ball at the end would be common and in keeping with this piece. If you are interested, email me about making one (cheaper than buying another).
