Philippine Insurrection Sword and something else
I just received 2 items that I won at auction. The one sword is 23" and what I believe to be a Philippine Insurrection Sword, and the other item is a very large dagger(15.5 "), which I originally thought was also Philippine, but now, I am not so sure. The dagger has Mediterranean flavor to it, which could be the Spanish influence, but the leather on the scabbard looks like the same leather on some of my kindjals. The sheath also looks like it might have had a round finial on the end which could place it in the Caucasus region.
Any opinions would be appreciated . |

I agree with Detlef. Both are from Luzon and around 1900 for the time of manufacture.

I also agree, both are from Luzon and date from the late 1800's to early 1900's. My congratulation to you for winning these very nice items. I especially like the sword with the clenched fist horn hilt. Was it an ebay item? If so I need to start spending more time looking than I have been lately.

Very nice pieces!
The workmanship in my opinion does indeed look Philippine. |
