Default Axe-type "thing" Afghan ?

I am sure that I have seen these discussed before but I cannot find the thread.

I used to see these on a regular basis in the UK, but this is the first that I have come across for ages.

Brass with quite a sharp, inset steel blade.

Can anyone remember what was decided about them ?

Regards
Roy

North African sugar hammer. Not an expert in them, but googling that should bring up a bit of info.

....See http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...t=sugar+hammer The item seemed connected to an ice cutting tool idea...but other references are also on the thread I show. Possibly Afghan?

Meanwhile there are such things as sugar hammers from Morocco and North Africa which look similar...Since none of these are weapons may I suggest switching this thread to the Misc forum...
