ARCHAIC KRIS
Hello friends,
My archaic Tausug warrior. Is the pommel ivory or animal bone? the seller appraised its age to be late 19th-early 20th century. Unfornutely, no scabbard (but i had one made from a local artisan here in the Philippines). Enjoy Yves |

Nice old kris. I would place this in the late 1700s and Sulu. The pommel looks ivory, and it looks like there was a ferrule at the bottom of the hilt.
The blade needs a good etch. |

Niece kris indeed, agree with everthing Jose has said but the pommel don't look like elephant ivory, it look like marine ivory of some sort, would be nice to see some close-up.
The blade need first a good polish before it get etched. I will show you my similar kris (different blade), maybe you can let work a new hilt ring from silver. Regards, Detlef |
