A Lovely Indonesian Pedang With Solid Brass Hilt
Here is a pedang type we have seen many times. It differs only in its unique features of a nicely executed solid brass hilt and heavy blade. This hilt and a slightly thicker than typical blade give it, as mentioned, an unusually heavy feel and bring great power to the slashing stroke. The blade is pattern welded in typical form with very precise fullering and a tempered edge for about the last 11in. of the blade.
I can't say for certain where specifically this one is from, but my guess is Sumatra. I am certainly open to any input on this. Dimensions: Overall length: 30in. Blade length: 25in. Blade width at the forte: 1.5in. Blade thickness at the forte: .25in. |

A truly beautiful sword Charles especially with the cast? brass hilt. Thank you for posting it here for discussion. Could you possibly post a few close-ups of both sides of the blade as well. Great catch.

Nice pedang .
Do you consider to give it a warangan treatment ? It has a nice batu lapak at the base. |

Yes, it needs a good Indonesian style "wash", but I don't have the needed chemicals here.
