Robert, Yours is a Visayan piece. It may have a deity head, though hard to tell from the pictures. |

Kronchew, Steve and Jose, Thank you all for your responces. I will be posting better pictures as soon as it arrives which I hope will be in the next two days. I am also hoping that it has a deity head on the hilt as Jose mentioned it might. Thanks again. Robert |

Well, The Bolo arrive today with quite a few surprises. It does have a deity head grip and also a turtle shell and leather covered scabbard! There is one bad split it the turtle shell covering and a few worm holes in it and the grip but all in all I am very happy with it. The fittings could be brass but have a very soft glow so I will have them tested to be sure. The blade is in great condition but was covered with a coat of varnish that I have removed. The scabbard was covered in years of just about everything including paint splatters so I have given it a light cleaning followed by Ren wax. It is dark outside now so I will have to wait until tomorrow to post pictures. Robert |
