This dagger has been offered to me. I like it very much because of its beauty but I actually do not know anything about it, neither do the seller
![]() The blade is wootz with gold inlays and the grip is ivory. Please help me on origin, type and age if you can. Thank you very much to all of you !! Best HB Last edited by hbhansen; 30th October 2013 at 08:43 PM. |

Wow, what a beauty!!
It is a Pesh Kabz from India. Age? no idea. The more knowledgeable members in this field might give you an answer on that. |

yes, it is Indian. although a mix of Pesh and Kard, with more being a Kard - a "mystery dagger" in modern terms

IMXO, Indo-Persian Khandjar, image 5 may show wootz, but better etching may be revealing. AFAIK, Pesh Kabz as a rule has a T- reinforced blade and Kard is single-edged and is usually straight.
Quite a lot of re-glueing. |

Ariel is right on terminology. It's not a classical Pesh or Kard. It's a khanjar/dagger. I do believe it's Indian, and of mechanical damascus, not wootz, and a fairly recent "retrofit".

Here is a pesh (lt) and a kard (rt), the item being discussed has none of the distinctive traits of either one.
