Hello all!
Recently aqcuired this Kris and was wondering about its origins. Doesn't look Mindanao or Sulu to my (untrained and inexperienced) eyes. It does have a separate ganja. I'm guessing the baca-baca is white brass or some type of low grade silver. Would the "fish scale"-like pattern on the baca-baca or the shape of the kakatua pommel be any indication of its origins? |

The hilt is a little less than 6 inches (15cm) And the Blade length is 22 inches (56cm)

The blade does look Moro influenced. However the hilt looks like it was added later and not original to the blade. I would say the same about the baca-baca.
On the blade, it might be Maguindanao, but I am not as sure looking at the forte. |
