Hope some can translate Arabic script on this silver hilted kaskara. An
Arab historian was able to translate one side of blade, but was unable to read the other side. He also pointed out two small pieces of chain mail on the sword knot. He said that this represented two recent births in the owners family. I have no way of knowing weather this is fact or not. Has anyone ever heard of this practice before? The blade is european, one single wide fuller running full length of the blade, and the blade is 35 inches long. This translation was done over 20 years ago and i need a memory refresher. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.........Dave |

Well, for the second time these pictures didn't go through. My computer
is so old and slow that half the time it takes forever to do anything. I guess it's time to buy a new one.........Dave. |

Thanks Robert, but Albert (Kino) said he would help send the pictures
on to you guys. I don't have any trouble sending pictures through e-mail, but i have all kinds of trouble sending anything to the forum. I have an interesting mandau, and a small twist-core campilon which i believe to be Tiboli that appears to be made by a moro but with a completly different handle style. Hope some of you might have some idea as to the origin of the piece. Eventually i'll figure out how to send these pictures through. Thanks again for offering to help...........Dave. |
