This Parang/Mandau is an interesting marriage of a Mendalam hilt and scabbard with a Negara blade. It's extremely heavy for a parang and as a bonus it has a maqic square, like those on the Negara Beladah Belabang swords.

Hi Michael,
This is absolutely a one of a kind wonderfull piece. Fortunately I had the opportunity to hold this one, and was overwelmed of the very heavy weight of the blade. If I remember right it has the same inlay on both sides? Besides the nicely carved handle, I also was very fond of the scabbardcarvings. Mendalam scabbards are my personal favorites. Maurice |

Hi Maurice,
Yes it's the same motifs on both sides of the blade. With you at least 3 members of this list has handled it. Michael |

Michael, Nice to see you posting a very interesting mandau. Make that 4 members.* It really is a wonderfull piece and extremely heavy. A very interesting combi of blade and handle /scabbard. A proof that cultures where moving in all directions and influences would meet and join together. Best regards, Willem |
