What I buy there: Sangkuh, Kaso? - it is a Shi-Havu!
Hello all,
I need your help by this "sword" I buy by e-bay, I only have this picture from the seller. The blade have a triangular cross-section and it is 72,4 cm or 28,5 inch long over all. Thank you very much in advance, sajen Last edited by Sajen; 13th October 2009 at 11:03 PM. |

Hi Sajen,
I have no idea, but I know one thing for sure: You bought it from the same seller as Carlos bought his dajak sword: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=10902 The same floor and the same weird camera which took the picture dated 02-06 in the year 2010 ??? |

That is a Shi-Havu sword from Rwanda late 19th century to early 20th century. http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...ighlight=tutsi |

Thank you very much Lew, when I look to the other thread it's the same style. Can you tell me a little bit more about, this is completly not my field. Is it a rare sword?

I am not convinced that this piece is African. The scabbard really bears no resemblance to the on Lew has linked to and i do recall a while back that we had a discussion about these 3-sided blades that were actually Indonesian in origin. I must say that the dress here looks like it could be from somewhere in SEA.
