Small Dha
Hello Members,
I get some years ago this Dha as present. Since this is not my area of collecting i wish to get some further informations about this dagger. All informations about origin, age and quality would be very appreciated. It is 44 cm complete with a blade from 25 cm. Thank you very much in advance. sajen |

How thick is the blade?
I believe this is a Kachin style from northern Kachin state of Burma. |

Actually, this is a Shan dha hmyaung. We used to call the style "Metro Kachin," but subsequent research pointed toward Shan/Tai (Shan State in eastern Burma, or northern Thailand).
Age is very hard to estimate, but it likely is early 20th or later 19th century. The quality looks quite good. |

I think you're missing a fair amount of silver from the fittings. The grip section of the handle probably had silver mesh or, perhaps, rattan rings.
