Just got this. 36" long in scabbard. Indonesian. Great balance. Comments?

After Googling Pakayun, I found this link and saw the pakayun under Dayak, should have read more carefully because it does say "Murut":

Also this link, and while I did not buy this from Artzi, this IS the sword I bought. Note the damage to the scabbard tip.

Ian, actually I've been rather ignorant of many "things" from my own "backyard" (and still am) and have learnt things from our western forumites like I first learnt of the pakayun from Barry (Vandoo).

Bill's sword is indeed a Pakayun as Rick and Ian identified and associated with the Muruts most of whom live in Sabah and also the northern region of Sarawak and Kalimantan.

That's quite a nice piece Bill. I've seen pakayun blades with one to three grooves and have 3 pakayuns myself but nowhere as nice as yours.

Small world indeed. I especially like the basket weave of the rattan on the hilt. All one continuous weave, even going around the corners. Impressive work.
