I just picked this massive Chinese Dao up with a small group of other items. The blade measures 28" x 2.75" and it is quite heavy. It has an unusual mix of features (to me) for a heavy Chinese Dao, such as the guard, the handle, the pommel(no ghost ring), etc.
I would guess the age to be 1900 to 1945 or even later. Does anyone else have an opinion? |

Nice wide bladed variant. May I ask how is the balance on this beheader?
I would guess perhaps this was a civilian/martial arts/militia/security escort saber ? Just my hunch of a guess. |

Certainly, thank you for your interest. It is not evenly balanced; it is very forward-leaning, very heavy towards the tip of the blade.
