I have found an old text written August 1873 about the weapons used by the Hindus and the Mahrathas.

One thing - dont forget, this text was written late, and that things could have been different a century or two earlier.

Very true!
Or in different localities/ languages. Marathi Vinchu will be Baku in Kannada or Bicchwa in Mysore or Hyderabad. Chhuri is used in Hindi and Bengali,in Tamil it is a Katti, in Punjab it is Chaku, and in Persian- speaking communities it becomes a Peshkabz. The “name game” is awfully confusing..... |
