Hello,
I would like to buy this lot: -a representation kukri, length 40cm / 15,7 inches -a dagger or a primitive money dagger ( with ivory hilt ?) length 50cm. The seller tell me they are really old piece: 18th century for the african dagger, bronze or iron blade, Yoruba ethnie, ivory hilt. 18-19th century for the presentation kukri. I wonder if the scabbard is covered of silver sheat ? Seems a kind of metal alloy so is it all just fake ?... What do you think ? Age ? Tourist stuff ? Kind regards |

Very nice African piece from the Cameroon. I assume the handle is original though it does appear to show Congo influences. It is not 18th century.

Hello Tim,
Thank you ! Do you think it is a machete/dagger or a ceremonial piece / barter money ? I was wondering if there was missing a part of the hilt ( due to the special shape of the base of the hilt.) ( I don't know much about african art-weapons ) |

they say an executioneers sword but it seems heavier than the other model ... |

I would place the kothimora kukri at perhaps the mid-20th century.
