Well, I think it says Celebes 26th June 1916
I cannot make out the rest of the script - any suggestions ? Wood and silver, note the top of the pommel which reminds me of the "noses" of some Filipino knives. Only 25cm long with an 11.5cm blade. Beautifully made. What would you call it ?? regards Roy |

Thanks for the comments
It is a bit unusual for Celebes, I agree. I think I am reading the word "celebes" correctly but as I said I cannot make out the rest of the words. At that time it would have been part of the Netherlands East Indies so perhaps the wording is Dutch ? Perhaps one of our Netherlands members could take a look. Regards Roy |

Just had a thought - that does look like 26 Juni which, I believe is dutch for June.

I see the word "Celebes" on it, and I don't see much of a Visayan influence.
