Dear All,
I cleaned the mark of one of my swords a bit more (identified here: http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...light=lionhilt) and some more details on the upper side came out. Maybe that helps to identify the mark this time. Looking forward to your comments. Best regards Andreas |

I just recognized that the mark extend still a bit more into the guard. Will post a new image tomorrow.

Hi,
if you turn the pictures upside down it seem to be a vase/flower pot with three flower in it. There is a simmilar marking in "Wallace Collection Catalogue" Number A 681. There it is a small sword from Solingen about 1640. It is also told, that the flower pot mark also exists on a rapier in the Metropolitan Museum and on a sword in musee lármee Paris. all the best Dirk |

Great! Thanks Dirk. It´s quite similar to the mark on my sword.

And that date perfectly matches what Jasper, Jim McD. and others were saying was the period of the sword based on the design. Excellent catch, Dirk! Andi, you are a lucky gent to own this hanger!!!
