Did you buy them recently from Malaysia / Indonesia ?
Imho, this is for those who travel. ![]() Although the decorated pieces with antler and hair may still be used for ceremonial purposes and/or gifts. Try the seach function and check out mandau / jimpul / langgai tinggang threads. There are quite a few to be found. |

Thank you for the strange mandau expertise, but the last question for me is: the first piece is a niabor or langgai tinggang?

Not strange David, I have what I would , opinions for the decorated mandau and an identification for the Langgai or niabor.
The item who are not strange for you can be strange for me. |

No problem,
Mandau collectors can be strange ![]() ![]() I already thought that strange referred to the mandau. Ps. Although it is not my cup of tea, the contemporary mandau with the bone decorations and hair is very nicely made. Store that one carefully for 50 years and people will be happy to buy it. |
