I just acquired this Filipino sword. Based on some research I believe it from Luzon. The handle is horn, and very nicely carved and polished into a fist. Brass was used to create the fingernails on the fist, as well as a ring on one of the fingers. The maker mark is CM. The green spot is verdigris, as I have not cleaned this sword yet. Unfortunately, some prior owner decided to clean up the blade with sandpaper, leaving scratches. I will try to minimize these scratches down the road. The blade length is 19 inches, with the total length around 26 inches. It has it's leather sheath, in nice condition.
I am looking for information regarding where this sword was made and possibly who made it. Any info or opinions as to the age of this sword are welcome! |
