Recently reset this old bangkung. I've no idea of its provenance though. Wondering if anyone else has a similar sample. It's 16in blade, 5.5in hilt. The blade has a wide fuller with some small outcroppings on the ricasso and blade tip. The hilt has a truncated silver ferrule similar to a barung's. It is nimble with modest heft. TIA!

Hello Ray,
Nice bangkung, I like the blade. When I understand you correctly you have reset the handle? Are you sure that it is the original handle? Handle style is similar to examples I've seen attributed to Palawan. ![]() Regards, Detlef |

Very nice. The fuller reminds me of the back of a quality mandau.
The same technique could be used. Kind regards, |

Very interesting bangkung. I'm thinking a Lumad, Borneo, or maybe Palawan origin, as Detlef suggested. It's fuller and hilt are unlike any Moro bangkung I've seen. Relatively short bangkung are fairly common in my experience.
