Hello, just sharing a recent acquisition. Am just wondering if anyone here has a similarly-flavored barung. I'm looking for a similar piece to pattern the scabbard after. Age estimates and assessments are welcome. The abaca wrap was my addition; I still need to have the wrapped part of the ferrule repaired after the virus era.

Although the blade is a little wider than many 19th C examples, I think this one is probably mid- to late-19th C. The scabbard could be a somewhat later replacement and not necessarily original to the sword. Nice laminated pattern on the blade. A nice looking fighting barung.
Sorry, I don't have a scabbard to match your barung for age. |
