We rather like the simple yet complex lines and designs of Australian aboriginal weapons. We see very few examples in the Uk but having an interested in primitive living, it's hard not to be drawn to these fascinating yet often misrepresented items. So come along now ladies and gents...show us what you got!
Here are our two throwing clubs. We have been reliably informed that these are early SE Queensland types, and the larger has Interesting rat tooth fluting. Style indicated collected in Brisbane valley around 1840. |

Hi Andy
Judging from the deep rich patina I would say 1850 but could be earlier. They used some type of stone tool to carve in the lines. Here is the link to my original post with some better pics. http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showth...boriginal+club |

Thanks for the link Lew, interesting stuff. These old clubs really are very well made, both as throwers and close in weapons.
We've attached pictures of our only Woomera, again an old one. |
