So i decided again to go out of my jurisdiction and gathered another Ethno piece.
This time a bichwa with a double blade, hopefully from the 19th. century. The hilt velvet lining is in a rather fragile condition. I have asked my sister to give it a repair and the result was better than i expected. The scabbard is also rather tired; i polished it with shoe wax to darken the failures and, when i brushed it, part of the thin leather top came off; so much for my restoration skills . Tomorrow i will go the silver smith and ask him to make two 'chapes' in brass, to hide the missing wood. Anyone care to comment on this dagger, namely how far it is from the real thing and its possible age ? . |

Hi Fernando:
A very nice example of a rare knife in its even rarer double-bladed form. Nice to have the velvet padding for the grip and the double scabbard, even in its somewhat damaged form. ![]() Looks 19th C to me too. Ian. |

Congratulations Fernando,
It is a nice and rare Bichwa type, and even with two blades. Ian said it all, but I would like to add - very nice and clear pictures:-). Jens |

I see that I did not commend on the velvet. This really is rare to find, and the scabbard is as it is, but it is there.
