Just to mention for anyone in London this summer - The Wallace Collection have a new exhibition "The Noble Art of the Sword - Fashion and Fencing in Renaissance Europe". Had a look yesterday, excellent material; it runs to 16th September 2012.
Regards. |

Hi Colin,
Their web site does not mention an accompanying publication - did you notice one? When I attended the Wallace in 1990 they would not permit taking photos, not even by special appointment. I am curious to learn whether they have changed their policy. Best, Michael |

Catalog has now been released, at a remarkably reasonable price.
I just ordered my copy. Unfortunately it's a paper-back, no hard cover edition is available. But I hear that it is quite good, with excellent photos. ![]() |

Hi Michael
Your questions are already answered - photos without flash are allowed in the permanent exhibition galleries, and there is a very nice catalogue of the rapier exhibition. Wonderful collections of both European and Eastern Arms and Armour, also a good bookshop, cafe and free admission ! Regards Colin |
