The hilt is wound in woven brass wire, and the pommel is iron which shows some sign of having been guilded at some stage. The rag thru the loop is as found. A pierced 2 3/4 inch diameter guard of brass with sign of incised decoration.
The 22 inch (560mm) blade is 1/2 inch thick at the tang, and tapers evenly to the tip. The blade shows definate signs of being of folded construction.
Although there is a scabbard which came with it, it is definately not the original, so I have not included pics of it.
Overall length of item is 30 1/2 inchs.
ANY IDEA PLEASE AS TO TRUE ORIGIN??

looks like a type of sword used by the dai.. a ethnic group in what is now china, they are culturaly very close to the thai people, their swords can some time slook like a cross between a katana and a doa or a naga dao and a chinese dao
