I will hold my opinion on age until I have the piece in hand but I wasn't concerned about that. I was quite pleased to pick this example up due primarily to two things. First, the suspension belt is quite rare. I have yet to see an example with one and I am of the opinion the belt is much earlier than the sword. Second, the scabbard has an inscription which is another fairly rare feature. Tibetan inscriptions(and I am assuming the inscription is Tibetan) are not common. I think it is an example made for use within the culture with a very interesting belt(anyone notice the kitthruma(?) mask on the lower end of the belt) and interesting inscription and perhaps was used in important festivals. I can comment more when I have it in hand.
