I also think this is a fascinating area of study. However it seems that the general consensus on the board is that the sinuous blade was designed for aesthetic and cultural reasons and not for better combat efficiency. I also hear that Keris forged for assassination were almost all straight edged and not sinuous. Anyway a sinous blade certainly looks more scary, even if it isn't more effective!
