. Through it I came across the fascinating article “An Extraordinary 19th-Century Dagger from North Dagestan: Bazalay Omar, 1848” by Sergey Talantov. I read it in one sitting—twice over—and was then inspired to seek out more of the author’s equally compelling work. Since I have mentioned the article, I would like to raise one point for discussion: I think not all large qamas (I mean cca 70 cm long) have heavy, clumsy blades. Some may be long, but they are forged in such a way that they are at the same time "relatively" light and strong...
