Could you please help me identify this dagger?

It appears to be an English dagger circa 14th century, with an inlaid gothic inscription that I cannot work out the meaning.

There are no other marks.

Overall length: 49 cm ≈ 19¼ inches
Blade length: 39 cm ≈ 15¼ inches
