Just received the book......VERY nice book, wonderfully photographed examples and well described. This is not a categorized reference book set to establish classifications or forms, but a compendium of exemplars of the varied types of swords used in Mexico through the 19th century into Mexican Revolution 1910-21.

Some espada anchas are shown, a number of them are the important examples of Lee Jones' collection, and several others. These have remained in use in Mexico for many generations, and despite being heavily armed with many types of firearms, the tradition of the sword was kept in place by the many factions in revolutionary forces. The frontier police forces of Diaz know as 'Rurales' also wore swords as part of their 'uniform'.

This is one of the first books in English I know of on this subject, and I personally am very pleased with it, as the examples serve as good comparisons in identifying these most esoteric swords.
