The blade has indeed two types of engravings:
- the flowers, very intricate, precise and quite deep of almost certain Persian origin and,
- the geometrical, rather crude and shallow, almost certainly added later.
There are no traces of overlapped engravings anywhere on the blade but it is possible the spine was originally not decorated on all its length.
It may be an antique late 18th century - early 19th century Persian blade, repurposed in Afghanistan or surrounding area.
