Typically these horn ferrules are associated with the Yakan Moros of Mindanao and Basilan. Though this one seems to fit the its scabbard perfectly, it is not what I would expect a typical Yakan scabbard to look like.

Barongs certainly found their way to Borneo. There is some info on that in the above thread as well.
