This is Ottoman work from the Black Sea region and was called "kama" in Turkish, or simply, "hancer." It's not a superior example but very good and complete nonetheless. Dates 1800 c.e. - 1850 c.e. Note that the scabbard lacks anything more than a simple loop to secure it-- it was thrust into the silahluk along with pistols and accoutrements, beside or in place of, a yatagan.
