I can make the damage to the hilt on his auction although not as stark as your photo his is dark so it is hard to see but I see it. Must have missed that usually I copy any under exposed pic and pump up the midtone brightness when I see this type of dark picture. That way any hidden flaws can be seen
. You have a choice of leave alone or sand it smooth or return it.
