I agree. Assembly and, I would guess, a relatively recent one. Afghani scabbard toe end of 19th - beginning of 20th century, very clumsily put, perhaps in a wrong direction. Iranian same time handle. The smooth throat looks vaguely Turkish. Scabbard looks kind of North African. Blade ... who knows where from, but reasonably old. Two red flags: is the hole in the quillon ( for the chain) freshly drilled? Looks shiny, or is it the pic? Securing the blade in the handle looks strange and unusual for the region: wood shims?
