Thank you all for sharing your knowledge & ideas. I would imagine such a mountainous & strategic area was once an important religious destination during East Javanese Hindu kingdoms but also perhaps it has something to do with the last stage of life in
catur asrama. Surely not enough material to draw any conclusions so far
