Default An Unusually Fine Portuguese Wheellock Pistol, ca. 1570

Preserved in the Hermitage Museum St. Petersburg, Russia.

This is a very rare example of an actually ivory stocked and carved gun; what's mostly called ivory inlay is indeed staghorn.

This form of the mechanism was developed in Italy and soon adopted in all Mediterranean areas, plus Spain and Portugal.

Its combined spanner and screw driver is iron carved en suite.

Best,
Michael
