Arquebus de jour

This piece is obviously iron, but I'd like to know if it is wrought iron or cast iron. I don't think these were being made from cast iron during the period I think this is from (early 16th C.,) but...

Thanks for posting this. I think either the site linked isn't used to posting thefts or else the standards for such are different from here in the US. Here, the media attempt to get in as many...

Now I can shoot it and not worry

I shoot all my old guns, at least those which I'm sure won't be damaged by doing so. This is especially true for the bronze military cannons which are made to very high quality standards even if 200...

Thanks again.

Michael, thanks again for your information. I do think there is something to be said for Peter II Mulich having used the rings of undulating flames as a trademark for his bronze cannons, as each one...

Peter II Mulich casting of arquebus/hackbut/feuerbuchsen

Here's an excerpt from a Google Book on the Elector Frederick which, although my German is poor, seems to clearly indicate Peter was involved in casting "buchsen." There are so many different terms...

Photo of Peter II Mulich's "The Lion" cast in 1523

This photo, found on the web, is dated 1940, at the time this cannon was taken from the Army Museum in Paris and moved to the City Museum in Zwickau. A drawing of this elegant cannon is in the...

I was leafing through Essenwein, A., QUELLEN ZUR GESCHICHTE DER FEUERWAFFEN, Academische Druck u.v. Graz 1969, Tafel Band, and noticed drawings of some cannons cast by Peter II Mulich of Zwickau. ...

If anyone has better photos of this sword or even the handle only, please post them here. I can buy them from the KHM but the cost may be more than it is worth for my little project.
