There are ankus with 'leaf' ends, and there are hybrids that are sometimes claimed as being ankus variants.
Just a thought. Might well be completely wrong.

There aren't any missing wires. The handle is wrapped with brass and steel wire. Some of the steel wire is twisted, some platted. No gaps though.
