The Moro barong and kris are from completely different origins. The barong is more leaf shaped. It never takes the recurved shape of the kukri.

Perhaps over cleaned to where patina is missing from the design grooves. That might explain a lot.

But mixing silver and nickel - not likely since the heat differentials would damage the silver.

Although some parts look like they have a silver patina, other parts have strange hue. Might be good to go to a jeweler and have the metal tested for silver or nickel/copper content.

Stock removal like this started in tunings in the 1920s I think, but I agree with Ian that this is probably post 1940s. It became very popular by the 1930s as the demand for laminated steel dropped....

I have looked at this and the decor - I'm leaning toward one of Ariel's choices of Syrian, though I'll also admit that this style of zigzag chasing is common (also as Ariel said).

Doesn't quite look Moro to me inspire of the square tang, but I will definitely say that a ganga was once on the end of it. Might have even had a clamp on it on one side. Perhaps Malaysian?

On the one hand I see Charles' point of the horn punto sleeve being Yakan, and yet on the other hand the pommel is shorter than the usual Yakan barung pommel.

The silver patina is not a great indicator of age. However the style of work is more so and I would think that the metal work fits more the 1940s - 1970s.
